The relationship between therapist and patient involves a commitment to working together. This includes maintaining a mutually agreed upon schedule.
I provide an invoice at the end of each month for all sessions in that month. I ask for payment by check at the subsequent session, or to be sent by mail if the next session is more than one week thereafter.
Cancellations require 48 hours notice; otherwise they are billed as normal sessions. I allow a total of 4 sessions per calendar year to be cancelled without charge if 48 hours notice is given. If our schedules allow and you reschedule a session in 7 days, it does not count toward those 4. A session cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, or in excess of the allowed four 48-hour notice cancellations per calendar year for which no make-up session is scheduled in 7 days of that cancellation, will be billed.
Cancellation of sessions in excess of 4 can often have important meanings worth discussing.
